House 56

Sixty seconds

EFAA Radio Spot

I’m old, but I’m charming. I’ve seen it all; the hard to please, the eager to learn and the “I’m just getting the hang of this”.

(footsteps)

I host them with care as they find their footing again. They’re quiet at first, but they warm up to me. As they settle, the kids start talking more; I hear laughter echo around my walls.

(Laughter, but not creepy)

I’ve seen nearly a thousand people all in the worst stages of their lives. I let them know it gets better, because what goes down must come up. There is still crayon on my walls from the Johnson’s kids’, they were measuring their height.

My patrons come and go, but they all leave their own imprint on me. I am EFAA’s transitional house number 56.

(possibly a different, brighter voice, maybe younger)

At Emergency Family Assistance Association, we provide transitional housing for homeless families in need. For a century, we’ve been assisting families in the Boulder area. We aren’t a give and goodbye organization; we are a transition piece. Not just for now, forever. Visit us at EFAA.org to get involved.
